Live Gig Review! 7 Day Weekend @ Osale Rooms 17.02.12

For the first time in Osale Rooms short history there is a phenomenon tonight that has occurred never before – an under-18′s night. Now let’s get things straight, I’m not a fan of under-18′s nights. There’s many reasons for my disdain, but mainly because that the audience for these tween gigs will have an average age of about 15 or 16. Since I am 23, this does not look good for me attending such specialist gigs. Mostly though this usually means that alcohol isn’t readily available. I am not a fan of this rule. So will Osale Rooms, and headliners Read More – Watch Music Video

Lana Del Rey – Born To Die track review

Lana Del Rey’s meteoric rise in the 5 short weeks that 2012 has been kind enough to give us so far has been nothing short of phenomenal. She’s already been tipped by many publications as a one to watch for this year, even my fellow colleague here at Prince Baron Paul Darlington has been singing her praises. So I clearly must be missing something, as for the second time Lana Del Rey has released a single which I have just found ridiculously dull. Just like ‘Video Games’ before it, it’s not that the song is bad it’s just so very…nice. Read More – Watch Music Video

Mike Glover's in-no-way clichéd end of year list

Well ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time of year again where we get hammered, cop-off with Pam from the office and struggle to get home after the new year’s festivities. It’s also the time when we reflect, look back, and argue about who was great and who was woeful over this past year we called 2011. So in the spirit of these things, here are my picks for the single and album of the year. Single of the Year – Adele – Set Fire To The Rain Well, there was no contest really? It HAD to be an Adele song. Read More – Watch Music Video

Live Gig Review! Plastic Palace night @ Osale Rooms 17/12/11

It’s a week and a bit before Christmas, and there’s festive cheer all around in Warrington town, and none more-so than in Osale Rooms, which is holding one of its infamous (well, to those that remember it as the old WA1) nights, Plastic Palace. There’s DJ’s working the first floor, but it’s upstairs in to the dark, somewhat cosy-feeling attic of the place, that some of Warrington’s bands are out in force tonight. Could they bring the festive cheer to even the most bah-humbug of the Warrington masses? First up is Selfish Lovers, a female-fronted pop band with a lot Read More – Watch Music Video

Warrington Winter Music Festival 19/11/11

Winter has well and truly got its icy grip on us all now in the midst of November. It’s a time when we’re ready to spend more time indoors than stand outside, so then why the hell has Warrington Borough Council decided to book another music festival in these winter times? Because they’re still damn good to watch, that’s why. Twelve bands graced the stage over an eleven hour period. But could they break the ice and draw the crowds out from the warmth of their homes? In a word yes. Throughout the day’s festivities are a variety of acts, Read More – Watch Music Video

Cage The Elephant @ Manchester Academy 2 – 03/10/11

For the second time in six days I’m at Manchester’s Academy 2 to come see a kick-ass rock n’ roll band. The weather’s holding up nicely, with England still getting the last few rays of sun from the preceding weekend’s late summer flourish of good weather. The gig’s sold out, and everyone’s dressed like they’re ready to hit Newquay beach. The atmosphere inside the academy is fantastic, with the very, and I mean very, young crowd looking and sounding enthusiastic for tonight’s show. Providing support are Brit band ‘Dinosaur Pile-Up’, who’s very heavy rock sound work’s well in getting the Read More – Watch Music Video

The Subways Live at Manchester Academy 2 – 27/09/11

Tuesday night’s categorically, are not a good night. The week is still in its early stages, fun seems like it’s a million miles away, and pay-day never lands on a Tuesday. So what’s a broke person to do? Go and see one of Britain’s finest rock n’ roll bands, that’s what. Manchester Academy, in all of its three forms, has a certain gravitas to gig-goers as a venue that will always guarantee you a good time. Its intimacy almost exudes raw, sweaty rock n’ roll. Which is why it is the most perfect venue for a band such as The Read More – Watch Music Video

The Stocks, Exile Parade & Bill Davro live @ Osale Rooms

Live Review: The Stocks, Exile Parade & Bill Davro: Osale Rooms Warrington grand reopening night 09/09/2011 – by Mike Glover On a wonderfully warm Autumn Friday night, Osale rooms (formally the legendary WA1 club to Warrington indie-folk), re-opened to the public with aplomb. And it was on fire to all that could see. Quite literally in fact, as the club decided to opt for a circus-themed gala, with fire-breathers and jugglers greeting you at the club’s entrance. Garish dress-sense was positively encouraged. So with the theatrics and decor sorted, could the bands on show offer some sure-fire entertainment? After getting Read More – Watch Music Video
